MatchesGerald Coetzee has quickly emerged as one of South Africa’s most exciting fast-bowling prospects, combining raw pace with an aggressive mindset. Known for his high-intensity spells and ability to hit hard lengths, Coetzee thrives on unsettling batters rather than containing them. He rose to global prominence during the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he finished as South Africa’s leading wicket-taker with 20 wickets, consistently providing breakthroughs in the middle overs. That campaign showcased his ability to deliver on big stages and fast-tracked his reputation in franchise cricket. Coetzee has already experienced two TATA IPL seasons. He began with Mumbai Indians in 2024 and made an immediate impact, picking up 13 wickets in 10 matches with his attacking approach. A move to Gujarat Titans followed after the 2025 mega-auction, but opportunities were limited, as he featured in just four games without much success. He now returns to the IPL with a fresh opportunity, joining Sunrisers Hyderabad as a replacement player for David Payne. With his ability to strike at pace and generate bounce, Coetzee adds an aggressive edge to their fast-bowling unit.
